1. The Fairbanks-area school district will have three fewer neighborhood elementary schools as of this summer. But the Board of Education decided Tuesday night to keep Hunter and Salcha elementaries open.

2. State lawmakers are working to hammer out a compromise that would give a big boost to funding for schools -- and avoid a veto by the governor.

3. A trade expert says President Trump's threat to slap a tariff on goods from Canada would increase the cost of living for Alaskans, especially those who live in communities near the U.S.-Canada border.

4.  President Trump has ordered the Army Corps of Engineers to issue permits for the Ambler Road project in northern Alaska. But a Corps of Engineers official says the permits are still suspended.
